Amazon working on Alexa-powered smart glasses, says report
Amazon’s first wearable device will be a pair of smart glasses with the Alexa voice assistant built in, according to a report in the Financial Times. The device will reportedly look like a regular pair of glasses and use bone-conduction technology so that the user can hear Alexa without the need for earphones or conventional speakers. It won’t, however, likely have a screen or camera, although Google Glass founder Amazon’s first wearable device will be a pair of smart glasses with the Alexa voice assistant built in, according to a report in the Financial Times. The device will reportedly look like a regular pair of glasses has apparently been working on the project following his hiring by Amazon in 2014.
The FT report also says that Amazon is working on a home security camera separate from its ever-expanding lineup of Echo devices; the product that ultimately turned out to be the Echo Look was widely assumed to be a more conventional security camera when it first leaked. Amazon’s Echo Show already lets you view the feed from other security cameras, a feature naturally pegged for the company’s own upcoming model.
“One or both” of these products may arrive this year, according to the FT’s sources, alongside updated Echo products. The regular Echo speaker has gone virtually unchanged since its announcement in 2014, and has been out of stock on Amazon for a while now, prompting speculation over a successor.

How to get rid of that ugly notch on your shiny iPhone X? Well sort off
Apple’s latest and greatest iPhone X is a beautiful phone. Of course, it has to be for that price but in one of the weird design choices, Apple kept a notch resembling horns on top of the phone. While it could be termed as a necessity as all the space below notch is taken by sophisticated hardware responsible for FaceID to work, but it sure looks out of place on the phone.
However, the iPhone X features and AMOLED display which means individual pixels can be turned off and developers were quick in developing ways to hide the display horns between two layers of inactive OLED pixels. You can do that with cleverly-designed wallpapers, and to do that there is an app for that. Meet ‘Notcho”.
With Notcho, you might as well forget about the iPhone X’s notch. It does not only have a selection of carefully-crafted wallpapers for the iPhone X but also allows you to import any of your own pictures or images and make the area surrounding notch darker.
But there’s a catch, as the wallpaper trick can only “hide” the notch on the home screen or lock screen, which means that you’ll still see the notch on your iPhone X when running other apps. While the app is free, it will place a watermark on the wallpapers, which can be removed for a $1.99 USD one-time payment.

Israel-Based Firm Sues Apple Over iPhone Dual-Lens Camera
An Israel-based company Corephotonics has sued Apple, alleging that the iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8 Plus models infringe upon four of its patents related to the dual camera. According to a report in MacRumors late on Tuesday, Corephotonics filed the lawsuit in a federal court in northern California where Apple is headquartered. It accused that the two iPhone models copied its patented telephoto lens design, optical zoom method and a method for intelligently fusing images from the wide-angle and telephoto lenses to improve image quality.

Newly-launched “super-premium” iPhone X also has a dual-camera system but was not part of the lawsuit as of now, the report added. “Corephotonics claims that Apple was approached regarding a partnership. Apple allegedly praised the technology, but refused a license, and “expressed contempt” about Corephotonics patent filings,” AppleInsider reported. Corephotonics CEO David Mendlovic was informed that it would take “years and millions of dollars in litigation” before Apple might have to pay anything to the startup.
Apple was yet to respond to the suit or issue a public comment. At Mobile World Congress (MWC) in 2016, Corephotonics displayed its dual-camera technologies. Founded in 2012, Corephotonics which is led by Tel Aviv University Professor David Mendlovic calls itself a pioneer in the field of dual-camera technologies for smartphones. In 2015, Apple had acquired another Israeli camera company called LinX Imaging that also specialises in creating multi-aperture camera equipment for mobile devices.
