Vivo Y53i with 5-inch display launched in India for Rs 7,990

Vivo had debuted the Vivo Y53 smartphone in India last year in March 2017. Now, roughly after one year, the Chinese smartphone maker seems to have brought an iteration of the phone in the form of the Vivo Y53i. The Vivo Y53i is available in India in Gold. It is priced at Rs.7990 in India, and is available through retail stores across the country.

The Vivo Y53i features a 5-inch qHD IPS display and comes with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core SoC chipset with Adreno 308 graphics. On the memory and storage front, the Y53i boasts of 2GB RAM and an onboard storage of 16GB. The smartphone is equipped with a microSD card slot to provision for storage expansion.

For picture and video lovers, the Vivo Y53i packs an 8-megapixel rear sensor with an aperture of f/2.0 and an LED flash. The front facing camera comprises 5-megapixel f/2.2 aperture lens. The front facing selfie camera supports face unlock feature.

The Y53i is powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow which is also the same operating system that powers the Vivo Y53 that was launched last year. The Y53i runs on a two-generation old version of the OS as Android 8.0 Oreo has been released seven months ago. The battery of the Y53i is a 2,500mAh battery and features 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, and WiFi for connectivity. For its price range which classifies the Y53i as an entry level budget phone, its features seem quite handy.

However, its competition in the sub-8000 budget smartphone category packs in a bit more than the Y53i. It will face tough competition from the Xiaomi Redmi 5, which comes with a taller 5.7-inch HD+ display. It also possesses a more powerful SND 450 chipset and a bigger battery of 3,300mAh. The Redmi 5 also has a relatively newer operating system – the Android 7.1.2 Nougat. It is just nine rupees more expensive than the Vivo Y53i but offers a lot more at the price.
